Avast Secure Browser comes with many privacy and security extensions pre-installed such as an ad blocker, an anti-phishing extension, one for anti-tracking, a disguise for fingerprints feature, HTTPS encryption support, extension guard, password manager, and even the ability to double-check your credentials on sites like HaveIBeenPwned. All these extensions are available within the browser’s Security & Privacy Center. You can also configure each of them individually depending on your preferences.
The ad blocker can be described as robust, and the mode of strict blocking can be used to keep a majority of ads out of view. It also has the ability to block flash data files, which helps pages load faster. The browser is also able to detect websites that are phishing and warn you of scams that could be a possibility, but this feature is less robust than Google’s Scam Alert feature.
The browser claims to be “track proof,” but this is actually a fancy way of saying that it is using the Do Not Track standard, which isn’t as strong as it ought to be. The anti-fingerprinting capabilities of the browser are to be a bit limited and can only scramble a portion of your user agent’s string.
